Executive Board
At present, 10 ESUO delegates / representatives compose the ESUO executive committee. This comprises the ESUO President and the following nine Executive Board Members who were elected to their positions at the 22nd ESUO General Assembly and elections of December 1st 2025:

Executive Board – next elections in 2029
Executive Board members are elected for a period of four years, and the most recent Executive Board elections took place on 1st December 2025 at the 22nd ESUO General Assembly. At this election the Executive Board was increased by two additional members until the next ordinary election. The next election for the ESUO President will occur in 2027. The next Executive Board election will occur in 2029.

At the 16th ESUO General Assembly of October 19th 2021 and first elections under the new ESUO statutes, the ESUO President that was elected was:

Replaced by Wojciech Gawelda, delegate from Spain and “Beatriz Galindo” Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Associated Research Professor at IMDEA Nanoscience (elected to replace Federico Boscherini at the 18th ESUO General Assembly).

Federico Boscherini (delegate from Italy and University of Bologna) resigned from the board in July 2022 in order to take up the position as chair of the European XFEL board. At the 18th ESUO General Assembly and new Executive Board member was elected (August 29th 2022).

ESUO becoming an AISBL
ESUO became an Association internationale sans but lucratif (AISBL) under Belgian law after an application in July 2021. Our Enterprise number or Numéro d’entreprise is 0771.451.193
ESUO statutes
Amendments to the ESUO statutes were approved at the 22nd General Assembly in 2025 and will shortly be provided here.
